In August 2011 Hotel California Anejo Tequila was Rated 92 Points, we wrote…

When we heard of “Hotel California” automatically our thoughts were of the legendary song, but when we were told that it was tequila, we knew we had to taste it.

THE ANEJO: The Hotel California Anejo bottle is uniquely designed to project the essence of the golden California coast, blended with a desolate Mexican road as tumbling weeds cross the path. The labeling compliments the design and everything about this bottle screams of a golden era of Rock-&-Roll.

The Critico Tasting Notes:
Visually Hotel California Anejo has a full body with good color that is indicative of 2 years of ageing. On the initial pour our nose got a hit of alcohol, but when you let the tequila rest in the glass for one minute you will uncover its true character. The aroma has notes of oak, butter, caramel, dried banana and apple. The taste has light spice, tones of citrus, oak, and a light sweet agave note. The finish has very light heat and a nice and subtle oaky sweetness that coats the palate. Overall Hotel California Anejo delivered a pleasing experience that propels it to 92 Points, “Very Good Tequila, High Quality”.

Recently in the month of November we rated the Blanco and Reposado. THE BLANCO: It is clear to see that Hotel California began with a high quality Blanco. In the aroma the Blanco had strong notes of sweet cooked agave that was also noted in the Reposado & Anejo. Visually the Blanco has excellent clarity and a very good body, the taste was well balanced with notes of cooked agave, with a light spicy-peppery warm finish. The Alcohol content was stronger in the aroma but not in the taste or finish.
Hotel California Blanco Tequila: RATED 90 Points

THE REPOSADO: Visually the Reposado is mid bodied with a light aged tone to the color of the tequila, indicative of a 6 month aging process. At first whiff you get aroma of wood, citrus, vanilla, young pineapple, and sweet cooked agave. The taste has notes of pepper, light natural canela (Cinnamon), and wood. The sugars, alcohol, and taste profile are well balanced delivering a warm finish that contains little to no bite and ends with soothing notes of cucumber.
Hotel California Reposado Tequila: RATED 93 Points

Hotel California Tequila, “Very Good Tequila” across all three categories (Blanco, Reposado & Anejo).
